Justice League Movie confirmed for 2017!
It's been talked about a lot, and given the continued casting announcements of members such as Cyborg and Wonder Woman for 2016's Batman Vs Superman it was only so long until an inevitable Justice League movie was announced. At last Warner Bros have confirmed that it is in development, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal president of worldwide production Greg Silverman confirmed the movie noting that Zack Snyder will return to direct.
Sources from the Hollywood Reporter have mentioned that the movie "Could bow in 2017, a year after Superman Vs Batman, which is set to hit theaters May 6th 2016. The movies will be shot back to back" As of yet Warner Bros have not come forward to confirm a release date for the movie. It is said that Ben Afleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot will reprise their roles from the upcoming Superman Vs Batman as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman respectively in the Justice League movie. Alongside the recently announced casting of Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
When discussing the movie Silverman stated "It will be a further expansion of this universe" further clarifying "Superman Vs Batman will lead into Justice League". When looking at the further expanded universe however it appears there are no solid plans for any solo movies as of yet, though a Wonder Woman solo movie is in consideration. Warner Bros' President of worldwide marketing Sue Kroll stated that Warner executives are "Warm to the idea" and that "With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her".
It's exciting to see solid foundations being laid for a more concise DC shared cinematic universe. A Justice League movie could be excellent but will no doubt rely on a strong script and a quality cast to make it feel as rich as Marvel's Avengers. With core JLA members The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman yet to be cast there's certainly a lot to look forward to in the future. We're excited to see how Superman Vs Batman is realised and in turn how it'll be created to further the universe to a Justice League movie. Are you excited about Warner Bros efforts to realise our favourite characters even if they're currently playing catch up with Marvel?
