First look at Will Smith as Deadshot in Suicide Squad

It's been a great week for superhero news with the potential reveal of the new Spider-Man and a full colour look at the new batsuit we're now getting our first look at Will Smith as Deadshot in the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe movie Suicide Squad courtesy of Just Jared. We'll be honest this look really isn't quite what we were expecting for the character in the DCMU but take a look below and see what you think.

It's definitely an unusual take on the character harkening back to the earlier iterations of the character's costume before it became more functional. As you can see, in the images Will Smith's Deadshot appears to have both of his eyes, whereas the character is usually shown with a single working eye, the other replaced by varying forms of targeting device.

We would theorise that these shots may well be from a flashback scene showing Deadshot's relationship with his daughter. Likewise this cowboyesque costume could simply be a nod to his original getup, with this flashback helping to set up the anti-hero vibe of the character and potentially the motivations behind his coercion into the Suicide Squad. Furthermore, if this is a flashback scene then it's likely that we may see Smith's character losing one of his eyes and moving over to the more recent incarnation of his costume throughout the course of the movie.
