New Resident Evil 7 Plot and First Person Gameplay Details Revealed
Due to the early posting of the upcoming survival horror
titles rating via the ESRB games rating board we’ve now been able to garner a
few tantalising new details about what we can expect in the next entry of this
fantastic franchise.
According to the games initial ESRB listing – which has
since been removed by request of Capcom – the game will revolve around new
franchise character Ethan, described in the listing as “A man searching for his
missing wife in a derelict mansion.” Even that as an initial outline of plot
has such an overbearing sense of dread, it feels so classic Resident Evil,
potentially with an even greater survival horror element in the mix as no note
of the character being any kind of specialist or soldier such as the STARS team
members in previous games is present.
Further to this the inclusion of detailed, first person
intense graphic violence and gore is noted as the game is said to include
instances of “A character’s arm dismembered by a chainsaw, a man’s legs taken
off at the knee with a shovel and a character impaled through the face with a
shovel.”
What Horrors await in the darkness of Resident Evil VII? |
Finally the fact that the gameplay will be first person is
confirmed, a divergence from previous entries and for me providing something of
a feel similar to the excellent first person horror series Condemned. The
listing says for gameplay players will “Explore the environment and use pistols,
shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws to kill mutant creatures”, so
at least we know there’s some heavy duty weaponry going on to fight off
whatever the mutant creatures of the game will be.
Whilst this listing has now been removed from the site,
Capcom have confirmed that there will be further details about Resident Evil 7
coming soon.
What are your thoughts on these fresh plot and first person
gameplay details? As big series fans we can’t wait for this potential return to
its roots and we’ll have more details as soon as they become available.
