GAMR 2017 E3 Predictions: Microsoft Xbox
With Microsoft's new Xbox console codenamed "Project
Scorpio" being revealed at the upcoming E3 2017 we've put together a list of games we
bet could get at least get a reveal trailer at the event. Microsoft are swinging from the fences
and this could very well be their time to shine. They will focus on the games
but the talk will be dominated by Project Scorpio (which we reckon will get a proper name, possible
price and release date). Here are some other predictions to go along with that…
1. Xbox Game Pass Service Details & Date Announced
(Chances: High)
Even though it was announced for a spring 2017 release, we've had very little further news on Microsoft's Game Pass Subscription Service since. Therefore it wouldn't come as a surprise if a date for the service is revealed alongside some more concrete details on the games we can expect to see forming part of the initial line-up. First announced earlier this year, Xbox Game Pass promises hundred of titles updated regulary for a singular monthly fee, with discounts on DLC for these games as well as total discounts should you wish to add the game to your library permanently. This could be an excellent competitor to the likes of PlayStation Now which only currently allows players access to previous gen and not current gen titles. Come on Microsoft show us what you got!
2. Gears of War 5
(Chances: Good)
Gears of War 5:
another iconic Microsoft franchise looking to return, we’re guessing more of a late 2018
release. But it would still be nice to know we can look forward to it, especially with the inevitable Scorpio enabled end product likely to be both action packed and beautiful to look at.
3. Tomb Raider
(Chances: Low)
With the rebooted Tomb Raider gaming franchise already having
been a huge success in turn spawning a film adaptation we wouldn’t be
surprised to see the announcement of a new Tomb Raider game at this year's Microsoft E3 2017 Xbox presentation.
4. Forza
Motorsport 7 (Chances: Very High)
Another pillar
in the big lineup of Xbox exclusives almost certain to make a return, especially given the
release of games such as Project Cars and Assetto Corsa, which took the racing
genre back to a more ambitious level. We hope to see a little change to the
franchise though, like possibly blending the Horizon universe with the more serious
track simulator.7 Installments in and it feels like time to bring it something new to freshen up the franchise.
5. Wildcard
Prediction - Ryse Son Of Rome Sequel (Chances: Unlikely)
As one of the
first releases for Xbox One, Ryse Son Of Rome had so much untapped potential, in both its
campaign and co-op multiplayer. Although a second chapter is highly unlikely,
we’d love to see another historical adaptation in Ryse’s universe that refines all those great ideas and freshens it up to something exciting and new.
