Nintendo Unveils New NES Console Coming This Year And Its Cheap
In a bit of a surprise move, but one that will no doubt have retro gaming fans everywhere rejoicing, Nintendo have announced that they'll be releasing a brand new version of their classic Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console. The console features a rejuvenated design that retains the classic look and feel of the NES and will be simple plug and play with a spread of 30 - Yep, 30! - classic games included on the console itself.
The new console will be called; NES Classic Edition, so no big surprise there really and will launch on the 11th November. The US retail price for the console will be a superbly cheap $59.99 (Probably £49.99 for those of us in the UK) and represents excellent value considering the pedigree of top quality games it includes.
Speaking of which you'll get the following if you decide to pick this NES up: The Legend Of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Castlevania, Castlevania !!: Simon's Quest, Galaga, Ghosts 'n' Goblins, Metroid, Ninja Gaiden, Megaman 2, Tecmo Bowl, Pac-Man, Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream, Excitebike, StarTropics, Double Dragon II: The Revenge, Dr. Mario, Bubble Bobble, Balloon Fight, Gradius, Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, Kirby's Adventure, Super C, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr and...
Phew!
Even better is that the console has the ability to save your progress, meaning those days of sitting down running through old games in one play are no more. Alongside that it's been stated that the included NES controller though not compatible with an actual older NES can be plugged directly into a Wii U to be used with any classic games you want to download from Nintendo's Eshop.
Well, you can count us in as a purchase for this beast when it comes out. What are your thoughts to Nintendo's announcement of a re-crafted version of its original console? Are you day one buyers? Or would you rather Nintendo spent more focus on refining it's current generation console and upcoming NX next year? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
