Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham announced with teaser trailer

As a lover of all things Lego and all things Batman, the Lego Batman games have been something of a delight over the years. The initial instalment introduced a fantastically designed co-op game that delivered on action, puzzling and fun as well as a real flare for the comics source material. It was a game designed for an audience of all ages and provided something for every Bat fan, Lego fan and gamer to love about it. Then as a stroke of genius it's follow up Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes took everything awesome with the first game and expanded to a story that covered the entire DC universe of characters. Letting us play as all our favourites including Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and of course Batman's plentiful rogues was a joy. To top it all off developer Travellers Tales have us a gigantic and cleverly built Gotham city to adventure in with a huge selection of Batman and his villains vehicles to travel around in.

So with those first games being as amazing as they were I'm sure it's no surprise that I'm very excited for the continuation of the franchise in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. The plot of the game is to focus on Batman and his allies from the DC universe aiming to fool the evil plan of none other than Braniac. Whom intends to (as per usual) collect cities from worlds across the cosmos before ultimately destroying their world aand maintaining the remnants of their society in a minitiaurised form. This time however brainiac is said to be utilising the power of the Lantern Rings from across the universe.

It is rumoured that the game will feature somewhere in the region of 150 unique and unlockable DC universe characters. With the characters having new abilities and in turn being able to harness the power of the Lantern Rings which will "Bring unexpected twists to the classic characters' personalities." Beyond this the game will feature, much like last years Lego Marvel Superheroes, Big Figures for characters such as Killer Croc and Soloman Grundy similar to that of the Hulk and The Thing.

Beyond all this players will be able to traverse the universe travelling to various lantern home worlds to defeat Brainiacs power. There will also be a host of classic comics locations including the Batcave, The Justice League's watchtower space station and the Hall of Justice, giving plenty for comics fans to sink their teeth into.

With a game that looks set to blow us away with its unique brand of action and humour, we can't wait for Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Are you excited to try the new game and enjoy what looks set to be an exciting plot mimicking moments of Superman's biggest challenges against Brainiac in the comics? Does this all feel maybe a little over the top for you, sending Batman into space where he would no doubt be at a disadvantage?

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is set to release this coming Autumn 2014 and will be available on all major consoles, as well as handhelds and on PC.
